Numbering

Format SUBSTRATE-052626-01

Client code, invoice date as MMDDYY, then an issuing-entity date-specific sequence. NDG numbers use the NDG prefix.

Suffix digits

Numbers are assigned when a hosted draft is first saved. Existing invoices keep their numbers.

Payment route

Approve the invoice before creating a customer payment page, or mark the client for external BILL vendor/AP handling.

Stripe remains the default route. External BILL vendor/AP mode does not create a Stripe page or call BILL; it only keeps Fin as the invoice source of truth while the client pays through their AP workflow. Client sends, invoice emails, refunds, payment attempts, and provider configuration changes remain separate approval-gated actions.
